OPERATIONS

  • At Main Campus (1860 Lincoln St.), route requests to the Director of Operations, who will communicate with the necessary DPS team. This includes repair requests and maintenance issues (ex: broken doors, malfunctioning toilets, etc.)
  • At Branch Campus (1205 Osage St.), share requests with the Facilities manager
  • At Aspen, share requests with Sodexo team who oversees safety & security, facilities and maintenance.

Drop-In Tutoring for Students
Hosted by the Academic Empowerment team, drop-in tutoring provides students help with:

  • Feedback on assignment drafts
  • New study strategies,
  • Basic computer skills,
  • Reviewing before a quiz/test
  • Using study materials.

COMMITTEES

Emily Griffith Technical College believes that representative committees are important to ensuring the college functions in an accountable, professional, and positive manner. Successful committees are inclusive, represent varying opinions, perspectives, professional training/preparation, and model collaboration. All Emily Griffith Technical College committees exist for the sole purpose of supporting, advancing, and promoting the mission and vision
of Emily Griffith Technical College.

Any roles earning a stipend are for work/services in addition to an employee’s primary job description. Stipends will be paid annually in June of each year. The standard stipend, based on full-year
membership, is $500; committee leadership is $1500 with the expectation of increased responsibilities and duties. Committee participation is voluntary.

Emily Griffith Technical College has several non-committee roles that are open to staff. These opportunities are:
• State Curriculum Representatives/Chairs: $1000 per year
• College Technology Partner: $1500 per year

Culture Team Lead:
The Culture Team Lead is a highly motivated individual, dedicated to helping develop, implement, and foster a: positive, inclusive, supportive, and fun work environment for all faculty and staff. The Culture Team Lead will work to create a culture that deeply understands the needs of the Emily Griffith Technical College faculty/staff and community and in focusing on culture, seek to break down barriers around equity and inclusion that prevent faculty/staff from feeling valued and able to be successful. The Culture Team Lead will be an active member of the Culture Team and provide general leadership in guiding the Culture Team in identifying areas of focus, activities, events, trainings, etc.
In addition, The Culture Team Lead will:

• provide support to other members of the Culture Team and/or liaise between members as needed to accomplish tasks/goals;
• organize meetings and prepare agendas;
• represent the Culture Team in meetings with other departments/Teams/All Staff as needed;
• identify and initiate purchases identified by the Culture Team;
• organize a calendar of activities, events, recognitions;
• represent Emily Griffith Technical College as needed in relevant DPS culture meetings

Culture Team Members:
Members of the Culture Team support the development, implementation, fostering, and monitoring of a positive, inclusive, supportive, and fun work environment for all faculty and staff at Emily Griffith Technical College. The premise of the Culture Team is that a respectful environment and culture, that values all employees, will lead to greater engagement, higher retention rates, and ultimately quality services for the success of students attending Emily Griffith Technical College. Culture Team members will meet regularly and will occasionally engage in planning/activities/events that exceed the normal workday. Culture Team members were/are nominated by the leadership of their respective departments/colleges.

School Accountability Committee (SAC) Chairperson:
School Accountability Committees (also known as Collaborative School Committees), are an expectation of all Denver Public Schools. The SAC membership is to be representative of the entire school and include student and industry/business representation. The SAC Chairperson is nominated and elected by active members of the SAC (Interim Chairs may be appointed until a nomination/election can be completed).

Duties for serving as the SAC Chair include:
• Preparing agendas, scheduling/calendaring and facilitating monthly meetings, ensuring membership of SAC is consistent
• Coordinating topics, guests, necessary materials for each monthly meeting
• Assigning subcommittee membership and gathering progress reports
• Meeting monthly with Executive Director to review agendas
• Ensuring meeting notes are taken and posted for public viewing
• Representing the SAC in District Meetings as needed, attending Emily Griffith Technical College staff meetings to represent the SAC

The scope of the SAC, as an official advisory group, includes:
1. Strategic Plan
2. Annual College Budget
3. Program Design Changes
4. College/Community Engagement
5. Executive Director Selection Advisory Committee
6. Input on the Executive Director’s evaluation
7. Review of Safety Plans and Procedures

College Technical Partner (CTP):
College Technical Partners (CTPs) support the use of instructional technology in the classroom. The College Technical Partners will encourage and guide the usage of classroom technology that fosters learning and content delivery to students in order to maximize engagement of the students. This will include being the primary resource for their peers, and providing training and encouragement in the usage of technology in the classroom.

The College Technical Partner will:

• Attend regular meetings with other College Technical Partners
• Be the primary Learning Management System expert for their peers
• Possess strong technical and triage skills
• Works with peers in an inclusive environment to foster improved instructional technology practices
• Identify patterns to suggest improvements

College Technical Partner: Chris Jones

The Curriculum and Instruction Committee (C&I Committee) functions as the representative group that provides direct feedback on curriculum, instruction/pedagogy, and professional development (including bi-annual all school PD Days). There must be broad representation from instructional staff, with VTF voice represented. The PD Day Committee is a sub-committee of the C&I Committee, with the PD Day Chairperson serving also as a member of the C&I Committee. The C&I Committee provides feedback and recommendation directly to the Vice President of Academics.

Instructors selected to serve on state-level committees, specific to their area of instructional expertise.

  • Most committees are annual commitments with opportunities to continue. SAC roles are 2 years in duration.
  • Staff can self-nominate/apply, as well as be nominated by a manager. Staff can reach out directly to the current committee chair or lead, and/or to the executive sponsor of the committee or role that they are interested in.
  • Most committees meet monthly, with some meeting more frequently depending on the event or function that the committee is preparing for.
  • All committees are voluntary and staff members can declare that they are stepping down.
